Radar / ATC

Description

Radar ATC is an application for the mod laptop that turns your laptop into a real air traffic control station. Designed to work with airutils, it allows you to monitor in real time all aircraft within a configurable range (up to 5,000 m), displayed on a circular radar screen with position trails, altitude, heading, speed, and detailed information for each aircraft.

Airport management: 🔗

Create and configure your airports with an ICAO identifier (or simply a name of up to 6 characters of your choice), a long name, runways automatically numbered from their coordinates, and approach points for each runway direction. Multiple airports can coexist on the same server.

Air traffic control: 🔗

Pilots send their requests (landing, takeoff, flyover, approach) via the /atc command, which the controller handles from the interface: clearance with assigned runway, holding, or refusal. A radio system allows free exchanges, and published NOTAMs are available to all pilots.

Extended range and infrastructure: 🔗

By default, the radar is limited to 1,000 m. To go beyond that, an ASR Transponder — a realistic rotating 3D radar antenna — must be installed near the computer (within 75 m). Its presence is remembered even if the chunk is not loaded, allowing remote airport monitoring without constraints.

Remote control: 🔗

A station can take control of a remote airport using a password, or without one thanks to an ATC Link Antenna — a realistic telecommunications tower placed near the computer. The radar then automatically recenters on the controlled airport. Once recentered, the radar range is limited to 1,000 m if there is no ASR transponder within 75 m of the airport center coordinates.

Secure administration: 🔗

The Admin tab, protected by password, allows management of airports and runways. Administrators with the atc privilege can view and modify passwords directly from the interface — these are persistent and never hard-coded.

All craft elements (transponder, antenna) require intermediate technical components (magnetron, waveguide, dish, etc.), giving meaningful progression on survival servers.

Pilot commands: 🔗

The pilot can issue commands when inside an aircraft:
/atc airport - gives the ICAO identifier of the nearest airport
/atc ICAO landing - sends a landing request for the specified airport
/atc ICAO takeoff - sends a takeoff request for the specified airport
/atc ICAO flyover 200 - sends a flyover request with a specified altitude (200 m in this example) for the specified airport
/atc ICAO approach - sends an approach request for the specified airport
/atc ICAO msg message - opens or continues a discussion with the specified airport. The "message" can be replaced with any text you want.
