Per-IP interact privilege bans. When you don't want to permanently ban griefers but rather rip their arms off, and have it be enforced for all potentially new accounts under that IP.
Use /interactban
to ban an IP, if the player is online you can specify their username and their IP will be interact-banned right away. To unban an IP, use /interactunban
(does not work with players (yet)).
To bulk-ban a list of IP addresses, put a list of them in interactban.txt
at the world path and use /ib_bulk
to process it.
Useful, but not needed
This Minetest IP ban mod is a well-crafted addition, and it’s clear that a lot of effort went into creating it. The functionality works as expected, allowing server admins to ban players by their IP addresses, which is useful in certain situations. The mod is easy to install and does its job efficiently, offering a straightforward approach to banning unwanted players.
However, it’s worth noting that Minetest already includes built-in functionality for banning players, including the ability to ban by IP. As such, while the mod is nice and certainly adds to the customization of a server, it’s somewhat redundant. For many server administrators, the built-in features provided by Minetest should suffice, making this mod unnecessary in most cases.
All in all, while it’s a solid mod that works well, it might not be essential for most users, given that Minetest already has the tools to handle player bans.
