This Luanti mod adds graffiti that lets you paint whatever you want on any node you want. It requires at least engine version 5.9.0.
Features:
- Paint pixel-by-pixel on any node
- Paint with custom colors using the RGB spray can
- Different sizes: Paint up to 3×3 pixels at a time
- Remove graffiti with the eraser-like "remover" spray can or by digging the sprayed nodes
- Respects protection mods
- Compatible with Minetest Game, Mineclonia and VoxeLibre
This mod is a Work in Progress.
Items
Graffiti Spray Can
Press and hold the dig button (the left mouse button) to paint. Press the place button (the right mouse button) to change the size.
After some time, the spray can will be empty. You can smelt spray cans, empty or not, to get the two steel ingots back. Of course, you can replace the cyan dye in the recipe with any dye you like.
If you are playing on Android: For the best spraying experience, enable Settings
→ Touchscreen
→ touch_use_crosshair
.
RGB Graffiti Spray Can
A spray can that can paint in any 24-bit RGB color and thus in all colors supported by Luanti. Press the place button (the right mouse button) to change the selected color. Press sneak+place while pointing at existing graffiti to pick a color ("pipette").
Red Mushroom Extract
Graffiti Remover Spray Can
A spray can that removes graffiti. Essentially an eraser.
If you want to remove a lot of graffiti at once, you can simply dig the affected nodes and place them again. This will remove all graffiti that is on them.

Something like this, but for NodeCore.
For more detailed information, see the README.md in the Git repository.
Perfect for wayfinding/signage/navigation design!
You take a spraycan and start painting on almost any surface. It doesn't produce anything weird or out of place, and doesn't take the space of a node.
downsides/limitations : (edit 13/07/24)
16 colorscan only erase one pixel at a time, which is very longgriefing risk?paint stays in the air when the supporting node gets destroyeduses entities (can cause lag, might disappear if entity per mapblock reached?)
idea : using it for cave paintings! edit: done! https://github.com/Lemente/cave_painting
Pixel artists dream
One of my new favorite mods. Would be a fun addition to Backrooms Test. Absolutely recommended! All I would ask is some way to transport your masterpiece once you've finished. Though I can't of any way that'd work.
Super but
Working like a charm but after restart got this:
It's virtual paint, within Minetest
I can see quite a few uses for this mod, from making a black board with some educational question or equation on it, to using it to make a cool billboard for some kind of advertisement. (Ever wanted to depict some kind of pixel art from within Minetest, well with this you can)
Some ideas for __future__ versions:
Option to change how big you paint by (right now it's 1 pixel in size, but 2 and 3 pixel sizes might be nicer, especially for cleaning up with the anti graffiti spray can)
Some kind of way to limit players so they can't paint everywhere (Right now I think the mod allows you to paint ontop of every block regardless of it being protected or not, a simple solution is to only allow painting in areas you have access too)
Even with the
creative
priviledge a player still consumes paint in spray cans (Most mods check if the player hasserver
orcreative
priviledges in which case they don't reduce durability, this mod doesn't have that check it consumes durability regardless)THE current mod for painting/accenting nodes, but could be the gold standard
This is a fantastic mod if you're looking to paint some pixelart on your base wall, or accent a vine with some pretty artificial flowers - you name it, it's usually possible. The crafts are pretty easy and picking colors and painting away is a super pleasant experience. That said, there's some major ways this mod could be improved that are simply a must to make this the gold standard.
Currently there is no way to pick a color off of an existing canvas. When you're painting, you might select a paint and start painting away, then switch to another color and continue. If you forget the exact settings you used for that first paint, you're out of luck - because there's no color picker, and now you have to repaint that whole area with a similar color.(fixed by grorp, now you can use shift+right-click to pick a color off of a canvas!!)
Saving of the painting canvases is only done when the area is unloaded. This might sound fine, but imagine your world crashes while you're just about to finish your awesome painting that you spent the whole evening on (but you didn't leave/unload the area, you just stayed and painted). It won't be there when you relog(!!) -- and this is a problem some of my clients have had.
There's no way to move a canvas or a 'stamper' to move pixels slightly. Imagine you created a large painting centered above a fireplace in your base, only to find that the painting is one pixel off. You have to redraw the whole thing :(
It would be neat if you could export your drawings to a .png file, but this is not too important. Still, it would make this mod much more popular - why would you enter some dumb editor when you could just paint your texture natively? :D
Despite these issues, this mod is still definitely worth your time and there's simply nothing better in the painting mod club. Recommended, especially if you like pixel art :)
Great mod, but no sound.
Also the anti-graffiti does not work. I click on the node. Then sparyed.
