the electricity system has a few aspects:

* energy distribution
* energy production
* energy consumption

i talked with jorunn@196-general and she said that cables are important. i agree, they're the essential backbone of the electricity system, kinda like the backbone nerves in the human body. if they're not there, something essential is missing. they have to be there.

that takes an implicit stance against "wireless" electricity transmission. examples of "wireless" electricity transmission could have been mobs/machines that extract energy out of all generators a certain distance away, and insert it into all consumers a certain distance away.

side effects:
the "wireless" electricity distribution system would be much simpler, and it would make the flow of energy a "territorial" variable - i.e. one that is evened out over a certain region. the cable system allows more intricacy, like close-by systems that aren't connected. also, things like "constant voltage drop" and non-linear behavior cannot be implemented with a territorial energy system alone, but they are essential to a tech mod pack, as heres definitely is.
