Description
musketeers & rifles: aim small, miss small (or just explode things)
all ears, digital redcoats and blocky revolutionaries. i spent way too many hours staring at lua tables so you can finally roleplay as a 19th-century marksman in minetest. this isn't your typical "click to delete mob" mod. these are weapons with weight, smoke, and punishing reload times.
if you want to spray and pray, go back to your diamond swords. here, every shot counts because you'll be spending the next 10 seconds staring at a reloading bar while a zombie evaluates your life choices.
the arsenal
i’ve tuned these five historical beauties to feel distinct. check the stats or don't, i'm a description, not a cop.
| weapon | dmg | vel | reload | vibe |
| jezail musket | 57 | 80 | 8.5s | the reliable classic. long barrel, decent punch. |
| whitworth rifle | 50 | 110 | 9.0s | high velocity, low drop. for the coward- i mean, sniper, in you. |
| springfield m1861 | 32 | 75 | 7.5s | the "spammy" one. relatively speaking. good luck with that 4.0 spread. |
| pennsylvanian rifle | 70 | 80 | 12.5s | hits like a truck, reloads like a tectonic plate. |
| tower contract | 86 | 120 | 12.0s | the "stop existing" button. massive smoke, massive damage. |
features (the "why should i download this" part)
- ads (aim down sights): right-click to actually use your eyes. it lowers your fov and tightens your spread, but you'll move like you're walking through molasses.
- ballistics & physics: these aren't hitscan. projectiles have gravity and travel time. you actually have to lead your shots like a person with a functioning brain.
- movement penalties: you can't bunny hop while reloading a 5-foot long rifle. if you try to switch items while reloading, the mod will literally force the gun back into your hand. no cheating the timer.
- smoke & mirrors: every shot produces a satisfying puff of black powder smoke and a muzzle flash.
- recoil: firing actually pushes you back. don't stand on the edge of a cliff.
how to not die
- sneak to reduce spread.
- ads (right-click) to actually hit things further than 5 blocks away.
- don't move while firing unless you like hitting the scenery instead of the target.
- pray the 12-second reload on the tower contract doesn't get you killed.
technical nonsense
it uses a custom raycast-on-step entity system. it's lightweight but handles collisions properly, including knockback and particle effects. if it breaks your server, that's just historical immersion.
"give 'em the cold steel? nah, give 'em 86 damage from a tower contract." - me, probably.

the black powder bongaloo: flintlock update (v1.0.5)
the black powder boogaloo: flintlock update
hark, ye block-headed knaves! cease thy dalliance with high-tech sorcery and automated tomfoolery, for we bringeth forth the reliability of ancient lead and singular purpose. whether thou seekest to settle a grievance at the break of dawn or merely wishest to play the part of a mounted officer who hath misplaced his noble steed, we present two new engines of thunder for thy luanti arsenal.
they be sluggish in the hand and foul with the breath of sulfur; verily, thou shalt pray for a second piece when the foulest of mobs endureth thy first volley.

the "fine print"
- of reloading: mark how the moments pass—six seconds and a half. in such a span, a man might brew his broth, ponder his sins, or find himself devoured by a beast of the sands.
- of the sulfurous mists: to discharge the 1807 within a dark cavern is to play at "blind man's buff" with death itself, for the smoke shall shroud thy foe and thy fate alike.
- of the marksman’s poise: the wogdon is for the courtly soul who craves a steady hand. yet, be warned: to aim with such grace requires a leaden foot, for thou shalt move with the swiftness of a stone to maintain thy dignity.
stay smoky.

v1.0.0
v1.0.0 - "just as the founding fathers intended"
initial release of the most punishingly realistic black powder mod on contentdb.
changes:
- added 5 historical firearms: jezail, whitworth, springfield, pennsylvanian, and the tower contract.
- implemented a "don't-you-dare-switch" reload system: try to swap items while reloading, and the gun swaps itself back. it's for your own good.
- added ads (right-click) because hip-firing a musket is basically just littering.
- custom ballistics: bullets now obey gravity, unlike my sleep schedule.
- muzzle flashes and smoke clouds so thick you'll forget what your target looked like.
- knockback: every action has an equal and opposite reaction that might push you off a cliff.
known issues:
- reload times are long. this is not a bug, it's a lifestyle choice.
- may cause sudden urges to wear a tricorne hat and talk about liberty.
