I absolutely love the Chicago style trains. I wish I had the knowledge to change the appearance of the 'black' cars in the main pics here. Yes I know about livery mod, but more the physical config of the exterior.
Id like a vertically split front wind shield, and narrower side windows like on the red and green cars (though these would be split horizontally, as they slide open up and down, but closed is just fine here), with little oval windows above. This will kindof approximate the feel of the old 1940's PCC street cars, or as close as I can get at least. would be nice to see one. The yellow one in (basic trains?) is too narrow, and was made for Japan, it looks too boxy, but very historical, they only have one left on display I think, survived WWII.
They (PCC cars) typically had a cream colored top, and a dark green bottom, seperated by a thin orange stripe. or sometimes just school bus yellow bottom and white top (at least these were in Baltimore and Philidelphia, other colors can be seen still on the streets in San Francisco in YT vids, and in the green/cream, which is thankfully still on the streets in Philly. These were typically single car mode, or at the most, 2. Some were double end control, but most werent. The style influenced the 1947-57 GM TDH city transit busses, and the pre 1966 VW split window transporter (bus) with the safari roof, all of which styleisticaly are great loves of mine from my childhood. I know how to work on graphics, but not mods yet, or id volunteer an edit for you.
Otherwise, what mod are you using for those subway stations? I love the fluted mouldiing and cornice work/arches. And the stone blocks are better than what I have. Is this yours as well, or are they another source? I so need/want for my system
Otherwise good luck with your continued school work!
I too love the look of those old streetcars. I've actually considered making a mod specifically for them :) That of course depends on the amount of time I have though, but once I catch up a little bit on my Subways mod, I might look into it!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun to build. The arches are from pkarcs. The white and gray stone bricks are just the default stone brick and silver sandstone brick from Minetest Game. The yellow platforms are from advtrains platforms. The columns/pillars are from castle mastonry. The lights are from homedecor, and the clocks are from display modpack.
Thanks! I appreciate the time and thought you put into your review!
I have all the images, floor plans and blueprints for the PCC cars, I guess I could scale them down and reduce the res, as a staart point? have not modded yet, only started playing recently
The headlight on these cars would be nice if the actualy worked and cast light, just a suggestion
That and maybe lit interiors , both also based on in game time
I agree; unfortunately, Luanti's lighting is rather clunky. Only static nodes can emit light, so in order to make lights move, you have to move a light node around. Think of the flashlight in Backrooms Test. There is also an old updated mod called Advtrains Japanese Tram which uses glowing entities and some texture hacks to imitate interior lighting. So maybe I could make the trains' interiors light up...? I'd have to look into it in more detail, and I'm not sure it would look good in all lighting circumstances.

Cool! Yeah, that would be worth trying.
