It's basically Minetest Game with some procedural dungeons (nothing incredible, stacked empty tight mazes with no rewards or anything interesting until you get to the last floor), and added mobs and weapons. Art style of the added content is programmer-level, and sound design of things tends to be poor (bad quality of SFXs, weird sounds max hear distances, and so on...).
(Luanti 5.11) I don't know whether it's normal or not, but shooting at mobs with fireguns, crossbows, or everything that relies on entities collisions doesn't work: they take no damage. So the epic fights are not epic at all for me, and that should be the mod's priority according to the title :\ (also, as a sidenote, Minecraft has a mod with the same name, and the screenshot suggested that it also had the same function, but I got very disappointed in learning that it was not the case - idk if the author is aware of that).
So from what I experienced, this should have been a modpack at best, thumbs down
I assume you're refering to 'Epic Fight'. We used this mod as inspiration, however the change in the name suggests it is not a one on one clone, and this project was made when we had very little coding knowledge. A rework is in the making, with better structuring in the code as well as fixing several bugs, notably the projectile issue.
Alot of the game is a combination of 3rd party mods, however during gameplay testing they seem to have worked on older versions. It may be an issue with the latest version, or it may be inherent with the subgame.

Whilst reminiscent of MTG, it does change alot of the gameplay experience by challenging the player greatly, as well as changing the ways weapons are used.

The screenshot includes facial expressions and other animated aspects; I do believe it does not suggest such animations in the game, it is more of an eye-catching scenario.
I appreciate the time you took to inform us of the gameplay experience, from a less-biased, player's perspective. :D
