Exile is pretty difficult, but it drives the entire survival genre of Luanti forward. I absolutely recommend it.
You start with absolutely nothing, in an unforgiving world. Of course, knowing nothing, death is almost certainly inevitable.
But, over time, you'll start to gain knowledge of how to do things, and the ways in which the various mechanics interact with eachother.
Eventually, you'll stop being desperate, and start planning long-term, constructing structures, making iron tools, sculpting out the land..
And then everything collapses due to one small mistake. Such is the life of an Exile.
The version featured here on this ContentDB page is actually v3 - which is outdated, and difficult to understand.
I heavily recommend getting v4 on this page: https://codeberg.org/Mantar/Exile/releases

Yup! If you ever want to get the latest v4, you can use GIT to do:
git clone git@codeberg.org:Mantar/Exile
then resort the files a bit, open it with GIT again and
git switch v4
(and it might ask you to do checkout, forget how it's written but do that)then do the below to get the dependencies!!!
git submodule init
git submodule update
or you can download v4 from the codeberg site and get these: https://content.luanti.org/packages/karamel/naturalslopeslib/ https://codeberg.org/perfect_city_game_studio/mapchunk_shepherd ideally you should put both in your mods folder but you can put them in the game's mod folder too
and then I've got an extended foods mod for Exile too :3 (other mods on my ContentDB) https://codeberg.org/TPH/exile_meals
