This mod uses AI for its textures and I'm not sure if it uses it for its code. The way AI is trained is immoral, and is it really that hard to make pixel textures? You could've made the textures in GIMP or another program for free. It would give your mod more charm.
AI images is good but due to some issues with it... it may give a bad first impression about your mod. But I know not everyone is good at making art so it's okay.
Hello.
This mod does indeed use AI, whether for the code or for the textures. This is specified in the license and in the mod description; nothing is hidden.
It’s fully acknowledged that I haven’t written a single line of code or colored a single pixel myself.
Now, does that make this a bad mod? The mod works perfectly, whether AI is involved or not. I’m not qualified to develop or create textures, but I still produce mods that are useful to me and fully functional.
How are you going to debug a mod you didn't write and know nothing about? What if someone using your mod makes an issue? Why should anyone bother reporting bugs if you don't know how and don't want to learn how to fix them? You don't need to be "qualified" to develop or make textures here. It's not that hard to learn how to write in Lua (one of the easier languages) and do simple pixel art.
Don’t worry — if there’s a bug, I’m sure I’ll be able to fix it. As it stands, the mod is functional, which I think is the most important thing. If there’s a bug, I’ll fix it; if there’s a problem, it will be corrected. But as far as I know, that’s not the case for now, right? Personally, when I use a mod, I don’t really care who/what created it, as long as it contains what it’s supposed to and works properly.
And by the way, I don’t think you really “bothered to report bugs,” since the only thing you pointed out was something already written in the description and in the license. If you do have an actual bug to report, don’t hesitate to let me know.
By the way, I see that you’ve already developed a mod. If my mod bothers you that much, if the Lua is so simple, and the textures so easy to make, don’t hold back — go ahead and reproduce it. I’d be happy to use it.
As it stands, my mod is the only one that offers this functionality, and that’s why I created it.
I think this review misses the point of what a review is supposed to be.
Reviews should not be a statement of opinion on life, the universe, and all the rest - in this case, whether you think the mod was "ethically sourced".
What is and isn't acceptable here should be left up to CDB guidelines, and as it is AI-created mods are allowed.
Instead, a good review makes a statement about the quality of content. AI may negatively affect quality, but does not necessarily imply poor quality. You seem to be only doing that as an aside, and it does not seem to justify your review (sure, "more charm" is always good; but you're claiming that the content is so bad that it deserves a negative review, which is what your review fails to convincingly argue).
In conclusion: Whether or not this mod is good or bad, this review is certainly unhelpful.

Edit: Check out my reimplementation of this mod, made with no AI. https://content.luanti.org/packages/livphi/mesecons_remote/
as pointed out to you elsewhere, not everyone is an artist, or even passible levels of ok

Now that's what I call a productive outcome :)
almost feel tempted to do a comparative code review, but that'll have to wait ;)
