Hi, started playing the game this week and I noticed a very familiar-looking salmon mob...I did a quick comparison of the textures on its model and I'm fairly certian it's lifted straight from Minecraft, and if that's true then I reckon it's probably the same deal for the model.
Hugues Ross, thank you for your report. I'll look into the issue immediately. I'll review the assets pulled in from mobs_mc. I'm not a frequent MineCraft player and never noticed that issue with the salmon. From the assets you linked, it looks near identical. I'll review the mobsmc assets and check for any other issues with it. I agree that the mod should be reviewed and scrutinized further.
Manual copying is still copying. If the models in 22i/amc are all manually copied using Minecraft models as references, then this will be copyright infringement
Thanks for clarification. I wasn't able to clearly decern what he meant in that repo. If you're determination is that he's infringed on MC's assets, then I need to make sure nothing downstream is inherited from that. I thought they were some sort of fan-made original models inspired by, not a 1:1 recreation in Blender. I'm going to pull everything that was downstream from this. Thanks
What I meant in my original post is "if it's using the exact same texture, for the same purpose, and that texture is properly mapped, it's necessarily going to be using the same model as a result". So the fish would be an issue for sure but any others would need to be confirmed separately to that.

For comparison, here's the salmon mob texture in Minecraft: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Salmon#/media/File:Salmon_(texture).png
...and in this game's repo: https://github.com/jeremyweston/MeseCraft/blob/master/mods/mesecraft_mobs/textures/mesecraft_mobs_salmon.png
Haven't seen any others though.
A source code comment says it's from mc_mobs, i.e. I assume mobs_mc. Probably everything in that mod should be compared to what's in MeseCraft.
In the future, please can you use the "Report" feature as that allows us to keep track of these issues better - it also notifies us immediately
Will do--forgot that button existed!

I made a quick and dirty total replacement texture.
looks like this was the upstream source licensed under GPLv3 https://github.com/22i/minecraft-voxel-blender-models?tab=readme-ov-file still working on checking more of this.
https://github.com/maikerumine/mobs_mc https://github.com/22i/amc so are these models and textures taken from MC? @Hugues Ross
