Although I've only used this mod in sirmikeprovolone.ddns.net at port 30000;
The saplings are incredibly difficult to get, most times not dropping at all for the tree, leading to a net negative harvest. One time only getting 1 sapling from 4 trees.
And for what you get as features, is incredibly lackluster. All you get is a rubber block, rubber boots, and another way to make sticky pistons... Of which the only uctually useful feature is the sticky piston. It's difficult to tell when the rubber is ready, however fortunately requires harvest on rightclick - preventing any accidental destruction as you don't need to left click.
The only positive thing going for this beyond the sticky pistons is that the tree taps are relatively cheap to make and work similarly to cocoa on jungle tree logs. I otherwise do not recommend this mod for the above reasons (though there is admittedly no mod otherwise for rubber trees)
If you read the description, i mentioned the following:
it is a mod designed to run with MineClone2 and MineClone5, and extends it's gameplay, it is also not really designed as a standalone mod, but an enhancement to other tech related mods.
Which should tell you the reason, why the content is so barebones. It's literally meant to be used as a source of rubber for other mods, that have rubber as an ingredient.
I do agree, that the amount of saplings is low, because its by design. You should not be able to create an entire farm from a single sapling.
I haven't looked into the Mod for a while, but i could imagine to add options to increase the drop chance via config, if that is something that would fix your issue.
The not decaying leaves sound like a bug though, so thats something i need to look into. Can you create a bug report on github with all the details that i need? (Stuff like what game you use it with, versions, other mods and so on)

True, and I did think about that when writing the review... But I think I decided to go with it because you did add some stuff instead of just either not (keeping it to an API-esque state) or going fully for it. Which is to say I'm being anal about you having added boots but not anything else (I had ideas when I initially wrote the review but have since forgotten) when that felt more like a not so API esque feature and a unique one. Though admittedly it is an unfair point and I'm down to remove it from the review TBH
Do you intend to make a mod that utilizes your rubber mod?

I disagree with that design choice and I think you should mention that in the mod's description. You're making a mod for a Minecraft-like game, not a hardcore or some intense RP game. It also doesn't scale well in multiplayer where anyone who's interested in rubber would have to compete heavily for a continuously rapidly dwindling resource and have to go further out and generate more of the map. Also makes utilizing its wood for anything other than rubber a completely idiotic and expensive thing to do
It's sorta like making it so the difficulty in a game is by giving the boss more health and damage for harder variations rather than giving it more clever mechanics. It just doesn't make sense to have it be this difficult anyways - it's harder than even jungle trees to farm and no one I know even likes how the jungle sapling drop is rare either. If you had a "mega rubber tree" you could make (like with jungle trees) then maybe I could see it - but you've basically just caused a whole net negative rate... for what? It doesn't make sense, it's rubber not demonic diamonds or something

Admittedly it could be some form of mod conflict because other trees from different mods also have the same issue (I admittedly tiredly made this review). I could remove this from the review too. I could get a screenshot of the mods list (names produced by the /mods command), but the owner has been really weird about showing me information for the server
Absolutely keep the review up. It's fair criticism, and i want to address it. If i changed it more to what you would like, then you can always update it i presume.
Let me do the following: I will add settings to enable/disable the extra elements. And i will add configuration for tweaking tree spawn and sapling spawn settings.

ofc ofc - though I don't think the leaf decay issues could exactly be attributed to your mod. As there is likely mod conflicts in that server I've played. Though admittedly curious if your changes do fix it (because the regular Mineclonia trees work, just none of the modded ones)

but I do want to adjust my review accordingly to any changes you make :3 I think I'll upgrade it to a neutral once I see the changes on said server

TBF I don't tihnk there should be a setting to disable it - just that you should expand it a bit more or dedicate a separate mod to it. As said, I was being anal about it with the rubber boots loool. Like the most I could see your mod doing is having registered "base" materials - and then a separate mod being able to say make boots from it
I would say rubber blocks are a "base" material - but that the boots are something that could be a separate mod. Otherwise I argue you should just keep it all in and simply expand the mod overall more
And i will add configuration for tweaking tree spawn and sapling spawn settings.
Heck yeah that's good :3c
I have now added all the changes, and i think the leaf decay should be fixed now. Feel free to take a look at the available options!
Ah okay, yeah i'm curious myself too.
I have seen, that a lot of leaves basically depend on an update_leaves function from VoxeLibre. So maybe the libraries are not identical anymore, and because of that it breaks. I might actually take a look into how Mineclonia does it and adjust it in the Node configuration aswell.
Probably not, I've noticed that the VoxeLibre library is more functional and robust than the Mineclonia one... With results that show - e.g. absorption in Mineclonia is in the sky while VoxeLibre's is actually normal lmaooooooo
