Originally it only added a few extra crops, allowing more varied meals that were still roughly as simple to craft as bread. But then they started adding a bunch of new stuff, complicating the crafting recipes, and adding tons of new crops, some of which I had never heard of before, most of which I would never use. At this point, based on the brief glances I've had at it, it would be better suited in a game focused on farming and meal preparation. My MTG worlds are all focused on combat and building, it requires too much 'effort' to start a farm and produce food
If you like being able to farm tons of different crops and want crafting meals to take a lot more effort then this is the mod for you, otherwise I'm not sure, I haven't looked into any alternatives yet, using an older version of this mod would probably work
a wise person says "if you think too many changes are bad I can wholeheartedly suggest Minetest 0.3.1"...
Anyway, the mod has too much foods/crops yes, you can easily remove the foods you dislike, an author can not make such a mod liked by everyone some like having too much food, and some don't.. so the best thing to do is adding lots of options for people to decide what to keep in the mod.
It is not a bad thing when the mod includes too much food types, they are like.. options add the ones you like and do not add the ones you dislike and there will surely be people who will like using the ones you removed.
so by now you have the option to easily remove everything you dislike and only keep the ones in the screenshot,
aswell some other people can keep the mod with too many crops/foods (remove a few?) if they like..
not to mention that TenPlus1's code always includes comments over every part so it is understandable by everyone..
about the recipes.. you can edit that too no? maybe it will be a bit more work for a server owner but having too many options is impressive, a good server owner will work on every mod they add to their server so that is not a thing to think about.. so having too many foods/crops types is actually a good thing, everyone have open options to decide what to add to their servers.. so i have no idea why you think that is a bad thing :)
If you have to edit the code then the mod doesn't officially support whatever you're trying to achieve.
If there were per crop/lite mode settings along with a simple crafts setting then I'd consider what I'm trying to achieve officially supported
If someone is using the reviews to decide on whether they should get this mod they should be reading my reasons for why I voted the way I did in the contents of my review (which recommends this mod to people who, unlike me, enjoy having lots of crops and more complicated crafts).
Would be nice to give a review that doesn't affect score but I'm not aware of anyway to do that yet, so I went with my personal opinion, which shouldn't hurt the publicity of this mod seeing how it's ranked 4th at the time of writing this
a wise person says "if you think too many changes are bad I can wholeheartedly suggest Minetest 0.3.1"...
As long as it's change I like I'll take your entire stock
Some people want too many food, some dont, some want specific ones, how can a mod author do all of these in the same mod? they just put too many foods and crops, and people pick the ones they like no?
If there were per crop/lite mode settings along with a simple crafts setting
there is actually, open its code its like this: (example)
-- sugar
(sugar's code)
sugar's recipes
"" "" ""
"" "" ""
"" "" ""
if you dont want sugar just select that and delete, if you want to change recipe just edit the recipe, i think that is a simple option to remove the crops you dislike and edit the recipes
i respect your opinion, about the non effective review part, i do not care if it effects or not just saying my opinion

Converted to thread, I'll sacrifice the reduced visibility for a fairer score change
