This limitation has been removed, and we are adding in new content daily.
Pretty much everything (as in almost) is in the game or has a spot on the horizon.
Our mobs have gone through a few iterations lately and still have a good way to go before we are satisfied with their behavior. I just wanted to comment on this to let you and others know that they are definitely being worked on.
Pretty much, all of your original comment is currently in Mineclone 2. However, due to the limitations of MT engine, increasing the Y values might not be possible for some dimensions. (By limitations, I mean that we have a specific amount of space to work within.)
Pandas may be on the horizon, if we can find someone to make and animate the models in a way that Minetest can use them.
The preferred version of Minetest is always the latest version, but some of the newer features will only be available in MT 5.7.0+ (though that is only a limited amount of features). But, yeah, it runs on MT 5.4.1 too.
Mineclone 2 now has raids, and with this coming release will have a completely new biome set added in, along with a multitude of new blocks.
Sadly, the devs for Mineclone 5 are on hiatus, so that branch of the Mineclone family is currently behind a lot. We hope that Kay27 will have the time to come back and work on Mineclone 5. Currently, Mineclone 2 is the only active branch of the Mineclone family.
I'd like to see the possible integrations of Furious_mat's mods.
We've reworked the Nether generation in 0.81. And it is available on the Content DB here.
If you still encounter issues, please make them known on https://git.minetest.land/MineClone2/MineClone2/issues so that we can investigate them and make fixes.
It's on our to-do list, but as an "experimental" feature, it is recommended to be in the off state as it will seriously degrade performance. (As the feature states.)
It will not be fixed in the upcoming release (0.81), but it will definitely be visited in the future.
It adds many missing animals to the world, and we all know that MTG needs them :)
Thank you for making this mod!
Mineclone 2 has Axolotls. Just saying :)

You can enable the Mini Map with a key press. On most vanilla MT clients on PC, just press 'v'

This mod adds a lot of underground ambiance to MTG and to MineClone 2 games!!!
I highly recommend this mod to others, especially if you like to explore underground areas!
