Description
MINEFALL
Minefall is a survival game. Its signature feature is the ability
for players to "fly" if they have enough mana. Actually, the feature is called
"levitation" and is a similar to "jetpacks" that one can find in other games.
Another distinct feature is the use of ranged weapons (wands) that have various
interesting effects.
The game has no particular goal, but is action-oriented as hostile mobs will often be in your way. The game
has been designed so that players can specialize in fighting (PvE/PvP), trading, mining, exploration or building and farming. In solo play, it is worth it to play multiple characters.
Use seed 12341234 at world creation to spawn in an "easy" location.
Server owners: you can grant yourself the "give" privilege then award yourself RPs if you wish to quickly be able to invite players.
Do not install mods that are not designed for Minefall (there is not any at the moment).

Administrative Decisions
- Boats can no longer be crafted; obtain them from the new waterwheel instead. Boats cannot be taken back in inventory and will despawn if left alone more than 5 minutes. Waterwheel and windmills (for gliders) both take a grey mese shard as payment and have a 5 minutes cooldown.
- Yellow wasps drop grey mese instead of honey and seeds. Beehives have been buffed.
- Game options to choose the shape of the tree leaves, disable the "columnar" property.
- New utility chat commands /t (start count-down timer) /sat (set staturation) /sh (set dynamic shadows intensity).
- New "Tobio" armor piece: faster movement in water.
- New "trades" tab shows trades available from NPCs.
- Improved rain effect: visible indoor, near windows and doorways.
- Fixed a couple of crashes

A Light Unseen
- Weather effects rework: includes volumetric lighting variation based on current humidity (5.10), new game parameter to increase the number of particles (rain drops/snow). Reverted previous raindrop texture change.
- Increased accuracy for missiles/projectiles. Also more efficient. This actually makes the game a bit more difficult, as it requires less sloppy aiming with wands; on the plus side, it is easier to dodge shots from mobs.
- Removed non-wood aberrant trees. This might affect existing growing aberrant trees, so it might be better to wait until they are done growing before updating.
- Customized the "death screen" (5.10) which is therefore no longer a death screen. Nobody dies in an online RPG.
- Stone cobbles (except slate, and terracotta which is not technically a stone) get the "columnar" property (same as tree trunk blocks). The property is displayed and searchable in the crafting guide.
- Added a sound effect for when a wand breaks .
- Recipe changes: obsidian lamp (same cost, but allows to "recycle" paper lamps), cobble from mossy cobble.

Player-vs-Monster grindfest, with nice touches
The monsters are tougher than you. You need to kill many to progress, but they hit hard, and your weapons aren't great.
This gives the game a grindy feel, but it's got nice details: the textures, the 1/4-block stairs, the unbreakable-by-default world, the un-minecraftian mobs, the periodic hints all give the game a very original feel, and would be nice to see in other games too.
If you're looking for someting different, you'll get that.
Fairly steep learning curve
I've only played this singleplayer and only a little bit (since I prefer multiplayer and there are no servers for this yet) but it seems quite interesting. It's more goal oriented than minetest game for sure. You have to attain certain objectives in order to unlock new ones. Looks promising.
It's insane, you can't take a break a while that the game yet spawns enemies all around you, wherever you go. Digging soft blocks is useless, they take too much to be dug and then anyway you lose before making a pillar to escape enemies or a simple protection all around you. To jump you use stamina, making escapes even harder. At least each punch could be damaging rather than missing. Enemies knock back on water (blue tarantulas for example) is so low that they follow you like if you're not punching them to push them away, moreover they can attack you as when running on blocks so you can just stand still, no difference.
