Fun game
Getting started can take a little while if you have no idea what you are doing, but once you figure out the game mechanics it's quite fun.
Overall: Good
The jam version has a few drawbacks, but if you ignore/work around them the game is quite fun.
I'll be following this post-jam, I like where it's going.
Incredible
On my first round through all the Game Jam games, I only spent a few minutes on this one because I thought that it was half-baked as I didn't understand the mechanics. After spending some more time with it, I can confidently say that this game has enough entertainment for at least a couple weeks. It contains enough elements for emergent gameplay and there are concrete objectives to achieve, with tangible rewards. Since the forum post tutorial is not complete (purposefully or otherwise), I had to look in the code to learn a little bit about how things work, but this may have been intentional to encourage the player to explore on their own. There were also some lag issues and some specific bugs, but overall this game could be as popular as NodeCore with some more polishing and additional mechanics.
Worth Learning!
This is not simple game; It will NOT immediately click.
But once it does - this is a really creative game that will leave you impressed.
Tip
This is game I do recommend looking up stuff about after struggling for a while, because even reading a step by step guide won't be able to get you an understanding. Only by playing will you appreciate this game, and that's the best kind of game!
Fun Game About Fighting Dragons With Elaborate Structures
This is definitely the game I spent the most time with. My brother and I worked together to defeat the first 2 dragons (each 1 took 2 tries) across 3+ hours. We didn’t fight the black dragon because it was getting late and it looked really hard to make the structure. When we get time though, I do want to try to fight the black dragon.
I like the emergent mechanics and the puzzle of figuring out how to build the structures. Usually I think information about a game should be inside the game, but in this case it feels like it fits well outside of the game, as if the player character already knows exactly what they need to do. The game does put a lot of faith in the player to figure out the puzzle though, which may scare some people away.
One of the tags is “Singleplayer-focused”, but as far as I can tell the game works well in multiplayer too, and I can’t think of a reason why it would be more fun single player than multiplayer co-op. I would recommend playing this game with friends, because working together makes the fights easier. But, if you can only play single player, then I would still recommend the game (set aside lots of time though!).
Nice puzzle
Figured it out quite quickly, but was disappointed when you couldn't chain green tiles to make wires.
Very fun when you get the hang of it!

OVERVIEW
OVERALL: 23/30 (Great)
CONCLUSION
This game took a bit of time to get the hand of, but once you get a dragon summoned, the game really takes on a new level of fun. The mechanics on this game were very interesting, and were fun to learn. Great job talas!

Interesting idea, but instructions should be in game
Simple concept with potential, but having to open a forum post to play is a problem.
A unique concept that leaves so much more to be desired
The concept of the game is very unique and it's something that has definitely the potential for so much more.
The game already introduces some structures the player can construct, but there could be so much more than that. There's potential to take this into a tower defense genre, rather than singular dragon bosses, there could be waves of enemies, that require structures like the ion cannon to destroy.
Additionally, making the information on how to construct these structures ingame would be more useful, rather than the need to refer to an external source.
Although the game currently doesn't have too much to offer, it is a promising start with a solid concept, and for that, it's a thumbs up.
Zero instructions
I had to check on CDB (which brought me to check a forum post) in order to understand what to do. The game should explain itself, players are not expected to browse through an offline manual.
The three colours mechanic can open up to some interesting aspects, but as for now you only have to copy 1:1 a picture on a forum. Personally, that's not entertaining nor challenging at all
Too sandbox-y
PLEASE NOTE: This review is written for the 2021 Minetest Game Jam version of this game, by a PARTICIPANT. I used Minetest version 5.4.1 to playtest.
There is not much to do except hopping around to color the blocks. On the ContentDB I heard of dragons by replicating something in the screenshots but I was so completely unexcited by this idea I didn't even try. This is very essential information, should be all in-game. Since this is a GAME jam, not a SANDBOX jam, I have no choice but to give a thumbs down.
And even as a sandbox, I think it's boring since you literally have only 4 actions.
I highly appreciate the experimental nature of this very unusual game/sandbox concept, however. Experimenting with new concept is always great, so obviously some experiments end up in failure. Don't feel bad for this project, the thing is that you did something.
