Being able to map out your surroundings and mark down waypoints is far better in a menu than it ever could. It's tricky to articulate, but the new angle, as it were, really deepens one's appreciation for the beauty and look of the areas you build and explore.
I will say though, the player arrow really ought to scale with the zoom, it's rather difficult to see small details; on the point of small details, I'm not sure how well if at all the map is rendering changes to the terrain, the main concern of course being player builds, which if more prominent/added would really enrich the vibes I reckon.
