  Gave me much enjoyment, thanks!

  Tbh, I first hesitated to play this, because at first sight from the screenshots it looked to me like it was just basically a modsoup including pipeworks with different textures. But this is not the case, not at all!
  While there is a modified version of pipeworks included, part of its mechanics were modified in such a way that it makes a very different experience (they are triggered once per second instead of using mesecons signals, which makes automation much more resource). Well, that was maybe not a good way to start a review.

  TL;DR: This game has space, automation, and much cool stuff.

  You start on a single node (the core) with a questbook that gives you instructions on what stuff you can explore next. You might wonder, don't you need an atmosphere to breath? Well, there is actually an atmosphere, just not one made of air: The music, the skybox, the stylized gui, the particles, and the occasional meteroids (the meteroids in this game are so well made! great mechanic! and great use of particles!) make up this atmosphere.

  In the beginning, this plays like an idle game: You click on your cookie core, build matter generators for more matter, and click more on your core to provide them with power. At some point, moving the items around, and no longer the amount of resources, becomes the bottleneck, so you start automating things. Then crafting becomes the bottleneck (recipes involve unstackable tools), so semi-automate it with expensive autocrafters. Things start out expensive, but later they become so cheap that you mindlessly throws stacks of it into the trash, as expected from an automation game.

  Good concept, needs a bit of QoL improvements

  • At the start there's too much text. Many people will just skip it. I did try to read it, but didn't grasp it at all, because it was too abstract, I haven't seen the nodes it was talking about. And after I closed the dialogue I forgot everything and didn't know what to do. After some minutes I noticed that I can place the color that's shown at the wall, and it caused progress. After that, when I saw a shape at the 2nd pattern, I understood what to do. But I just came there with the help of guessing and reading the node names with the debug menu.
  • I don't understand why such a big palette of colours is used from the start on, when 2 are enough. Finding the colors in inventory is also not fun. Maybe only give the colors to inventory that you need for the current pattern. And/Or make it so that if you leftclick a color with any color node, you get the punched color.
  • (Sorry, haven't played this for too long.)
  • Btw., you could also make a 3D version of this game.
  • Just out of interest, why doesn't this take part in the game jam?

  Clever and polished details

  • Having a light orb in front of you for lighting is quite clever.
  • The damage indicator is really nice. Until yesterday, I didn't even know the compass hud element existed, and on the next day I already see a game use it in a hacky way.
  • The footstep sounds on the floating stone platforms in the stone level have reverberation. This is genius.
  • The dialogue text was cut off sometimes.
  • In the floating stone platform area, there's a spot where it's not deep to fall down, and you can see the ground. It's unexpected that one dies there, but unexpected in a bad way.
  • You can easily get out of the level in the first level, and directly go to the last level. This doesn't seem intended.
  • There are too many enemies at once. They spawn faster than I could ever kill them, even with full weapon upgrades. This makes the game too hard. There should be something like a limit of enemy count per space.
  • The goal and overall plot could be communicated better.
  • Picking up items by walking over them doesn't work reliably.
  • I haven't seen anything fitting the "unexpected" theme.
  • The boss fight was boring. There was no boss music, and all I had to do was run in circles and shoot for minutes.
  • There was no feeling of progress thorough the game. Finishing it didn't feel satisfying.

  Has potential to be fun, but not without players

  • Note: I haven't found a player to play an actual round, I only tested with a 2nd minetest client.
  • Interesting mechanics. Has the potential to work out and be fun.
  • The mechanic where treasures take up multiple inventory spaces is interesting, but needs more work. I.e. one needs the functionality to rearrange and drop treasures. Also, the inventory should probably be made smaller.
  • A bit buggy. At my first try, the players ended up in different maps.
  • To few sounds. Textures are nice.
  • In-game explanations would also be good. The statues, for example, are very non self explanatory, imo.

  • Instructions are not clear.
  • Gameplay is boring.
  • Very dark.
  • Too quiet, needs more sounds.
  • Doesn't fit theme.
  • Still better than no jam submission at all. We don't want it to die after all.

  • It's fun! But some parts a too unforgiving, more checkpoints would be good. (I ended up cheating with fly.)
  • Fits theme.
  • Got an "attempt to index a nil value" crash at regulus_mobs/boss.lua:240, when some projectiles hit me. And there are error messages due to dated API use.
  • The cinematic screen widening effect at the bossfight is innovative, I haven't seen this in minetest before.
  • You made the music and models yourself, right? They are pretty nice!

  • Many interesting details, like the floating point error in the LuaJIT version. x)
  • From a players perspective, there's sadly not much to play.

  • You can fall out of map, if at the beginning you don't enter the cave, but climb on top of it.
  • Hud text dialogue fade in/out causes low fps.

  • Fits theme. It's unexpected what you find in the dark (e.g. when you find out the creature you hit was a chicken).
  • Sadly haven't found gravel. Hard to progress, especially without guide.
  • Suitable sparse use of music.
  • Some means of orientation would be good.

  Great level design

  Finally played it.

  The level design is great! The mechanics were introduced properly. And the harder levels are hard enough that you have to think and not just fiddle around. Solving the levels felt very awarding.

  Other notes:

  • It would be nice if pitch move worked in space.
  • Sometimes I felt like I was teleported around a few nodes. Haven't found out if this a subgame or engine bug, and that's feaking me out.
  • Some of the effects, like the fire pushing you away, the feedback you get when you're in the way of a klotz, the bouncy walls, or the portal are very satisfying!
  • (If low latency is important for a better experience, you could also recommend decreasing dedicated_server_step to something like 0.016. This influences how frequent the server sends packets (also in singleplayer).)
  • I want more levels. :D

  Awesome!

  Great idea!

  And well enough executed (but sadly won't work well on laggy servers I guess).

  Mod could use some polishment though.

  I'd like to see smoother leg movement animations, i.e. don't jump to the next position, but move them along a curve.
