not sure how the game physics works 100% but i love to play with the wind settings and mods for weather and wind and sailboats and other entities created to be affected by the wind. a real paraglider catches thermals and can soar and stay up all day, as long as there are thermals to catch. would be nice to have a mod which could do the same in minetest. i doub't it's possible at the moment, but since it's an open source engine, and there are already wind mechanics, making updrafts, or thermals under thick clouds, should be able to be programmed. if only i had the skills.
nevertheless, always interesting to see the neat things people are creating with mods for minetest. can't wait to be able to craft this one on the current server i'm playing on which has this mod, Moonlight Falls, a beautiful server.
This mod includes visual indicators for wind and potentially windspeed while sailing on the open seas, which is visually appealing. There's also a torch that serves as a wielded light with a smoke particle effect to indicate wind direction and speed, but it can only be placed on land. Additionally, there's a feature for "mining" coconuts, although I've not tested it yet.
A major drawback of this mod is that if you pass something and want to turn back, you're unable to do so. When attempting to turn, the outrigger canoe sailboat starts sailing backwards, effectively keeping you in the same direction you were initially headed.
This mod could be great for flying mods such as airplanes, blimps, helicopters, etc. It would be possible to construct small airports on different islands to facilitate landing for island hopping adventures.
Typically, map generation usually creates large land masses with lakes only, resulting in restricted opportunities for long sea voyages and exploration of distant lands and islands. However, this type of map generation does offer ample open spaces to explore by boat.
To enhance the sailing experience, it would be fantastic if Apercy could develop a large sailboat mod that incorporates features like a galley, storage areas, and sleeping quarters. Using code from the great steampunk blimp mod, this desired sailboat mod would already be well-positioned to provide an immersive live-aboard sailboat experience.
Overall this mod is extremely impressive, and I hope the author addresses the issue with not being able to sail in the opposite direction. It would be absolutely fantastic to see this mod on a public server, where players could showcase their islands and share coordinates on a public bulletin board, indicating if there are airports or docks and which types of crafts they can accommodate.
In most cases, map generation primarily consists of large landmasses with lakes as the only bodies of water. This setup prevents the opportunity to experience the thrill of sailing to far-off lands and distant islands. As a result, it becomes challenging to truly appreciate the adventure of undertaking long sea voyages. Creating this kind of map generation does offer expansive open spaces to explore by boat.
It would be wonderful if Apercy would release a large sailboat mod that includes features such as a galley, storage spaces, and sleeping quarters. By using the steampunk blimp as a foundation, this sailboat mod would already be halfway to achieving the desired outcome.
Anyway, thank you Termos for this great mod, it's really nice to be able to make a world which is boat, and seaplane, wyvern, dragons, blimps, etc. friendly. This is tremendous!
Mineclone 2 is really close to the MC experience, albeit too easy lately. nowadays the portals and all sorts of other structures and villages and freebies scattered all over the place and many times u can find them in a cluster, where u can see like 6 portals and other stuff within view of each other. this needs to be toned down.
i really loved how the inventory screen looks on this video of mineclone 2 from https://youtu.be/UF4U_2fY0N8?t=10 10 secs point on this video, and would love to know how to do that on mine, and wonder why it's not the default, since it is already included. i know this because in singleplayer /grantme all changes the default inventory screen to how u see it in the video i linked to above. that's a much better, more MC like inventory screen/menu.
keep up the good work y'all, Mineclone 2 is really phenomenal and getting better all the time.
because i would only be repeating a lot of the great things already said in the reviews here, i wanna focus more on the critique and criticisms without hopefully spoiling the game and discoveries for new players. if you want to avoid spoilers, skip this review now, this is not for you.
the technology of the other civilization(s) which have been on this planet before, it's too cryptic. maybe i just haven't played enough, but like, wth do i want or need a temp probe for if i can already see the temp on my HUD, and other such things like that. i've collected a number of things from the ancients, but, other than maybe decorations, i can't figure out what they're for and how to use them.
yea that makes no sense to me at all. i've played maybe about a dozen different exile worlds, and all have had resources. i once had such a hard time finding clay, i searched for months, only to then discover it was all around me, but maybe just not wet so i didn't see it.
the one other time where it was difficult to find something, was on a world i was playing where i just couldn't find any gravel, gravel! i thought, this is BS, there's GOT TO be gravel around somewhere. i eventually gathered enough resources for an expedition and i finally did find gravel, but i had to go all around like the hands of a clock in every direction in a straight line from spawn for a long time before i finally found some, but that's very unusual, and you're talking about 147 worlds and ur always in a desert?
exile worlds are pretty barren, but there's usually big trees in sight - see the screenshots. use carpathian or valleys mapgen. report back. exile is very challenging, but great fun.
i haven't looked to see if there's a setting to change the amount of time, but the fire burns out in a minute or less.
after watching an alfaro gaming video on youtube about "forgotten mods", one of them was called the campfire mod, which i thought was so cute/cool; it has a round campfire as well as a sleeping bag, which u can skip night in. i searched for it here, but only found this - i'm assuming it's the same one but it's now called "New Campfire"? anyway, IF this is that mod, but update, sad to see the omission of the sleeping bag. the sweet thing about it was that combo, and more useful as well.
anyway, if that's just something else altogether, i apologize, this being just a campfire alone is a nice little mod.
I just LOVE flying around on this thing, and the controls and the feel of the blimp, it's just brilliant.
however, on servers, it kinda sucks, movement (on board) is really REALLY slow, otherwise it's a blast. my only recommendation would be if it's possible to have an unobstructed view, or more open view somehow.
can't wait to see what APercy comes up with next, but a large sailboat with walking deck like this blimp would be sweet AF.
i found the text file, and copied and pasted the names of the files in the sounds folder, but when i do mpd_list i still get the list of the original tracks.
pretty cute, the volume is low, and wonder if i can add my own tunes. i see a setting in settings for 'music' and volume was at .3 which seems about right, but i have also installed other music mods, testing one at a time, but this mod is working fine in mesecraft with no conflicts.
i can't tell you how much fun i've had using these TNTs and watching my worlds radically transform and massive explosions! incredible, and incredibly destructive. it could be that i have tweaked my normal TNT settings which is what has made these so insane, but, regardless, the various TNT nodes in this mod are really cool, and i will love having them around for my Mintest gaming pleasure for a long time to come.
this mod is so fun to play around with. would love to see this on some all out destruction apocalyptic server.
playing around with the settings and flying and shooting the rocket launcher is great fun. cannot figure out how to use the one called rocket. seems either useless or broken.

i have a question, what's that mexican clay floor tiles looking flooring in the main photo?

Thank you, cakenggt, keep up the good work!

i second or third or fourth this request. the raids in MC are awesome
awesome! keep up the good work guys. exile is really great overall.

you're right, thanks for the helpful comment Astrobe.

there are some other cool mods for adding music to ur games, but this one worked best for me.
i have added my own collection of music to the sounds folder but i'm not able to hear those tracks, i wish it could hear them.
thank you so much orwell for giving us this great mod.
is it possible to add your own tunes to this mod?
