Whynot is another example of "mod soup", games that collect existing mods and put them on Minetest Game in an attempt to make it fun. I don't have anything against this on principle, but I've yet to see such an effort produce a good game. Sadly, Whynot also fails in this regard.
Whynot does add some quality of life (such as wielded lightsources producing light) and external pressures like hostile mobs and a hunger meter. But honestly, it doesn't do nearly enough--In the time I spent playing I saw exactly two monsters, and neither one did much of anything. That really just leaves hunger, which will cease to matter the moment any farm begins producing. This means the player doesn't have much driving them to actually enter the game loop.
There are other possible avenues to drive players to play. For instance, Whynot does have awards! However, none of them are really well-designed. They mostly revolve around "dig/place x of node y", and offer no interesting goals. Another possibility is exploration, but from what I've seen there's very little to be found. The biomes are identical to MTG, and the only obvious difference I saw was a handful of floating islands. Most of these had nothing, and just checking them involves pillaring up over 100 nodes... nothing feels worse than being led to do busywork for no payoff.
So fittingly, my answer to "Why not?" is "Why?"
Why am I playing? It's not for building or decoration, thanks to the game's many clashing artstyles. It's not for action or survival, those systems are too anemic. It's not for exploration, there's little of note to be found. And it's not to achieve anything, since the game's achievements correspond more to rote grinding than to gameplay.
Ultimately, this is a very typical story. Remember, modders--putting a large quantity of 'content' in a game does not make it good or interesting. Content exists to extend the life of something that is already good, the hook is far more important.
These motorbikes are awesome! One of the best vehicles I have used in-game. Now if only I could get Minetest to stop stuttering while attached to entities.
Probably Provides the Most Diverse Number of Player Skins
Because this mod downloads skins directly from Addis Open MT-Skin Database, it (from what I can tell) provides more skins than any other skin mod & makes adding new skins easy.
a nice mod which adds various colored glass blocks... it doesnt add TOO many colors only the ones you will need, can also check cblocks for similar stuff...
You are left alone in nature. Some say nature is generous, this game says nature is brutal. Everytime you try something you may ask yourself "what could possibly go wrong?", well, everything. One day things may seem okay, the next day things become critical.
The game mechanics are very hard to grasp and the walkthrough is somehow mandatory and pretty much insuffiscient (I had to look for the code for extracting water into puddles. This is a game-killer, but water is so scarce and necessary to live more than two days). You'll have to repeatedly die before having a bit of understanding about how things work, about watery, what is eadible and/or toxic, thermal regulation and such. And then you'll still be constantly balancing a discomfort to an other while trying to just have barely acceptable living conditions. Forget about your castle, a small dry and warm hut is already luxuous.
Very interesting, challenging and frustrating at the same time (at least if you are playing without respawning).
Ok.. it seems like my issues are fixed so its time to mention the good sides,
This mod provides high quality dragons with pretty good textures and animation. It also has.. some sort of armor and tools.. deserves checking out as good textures and animations are no common in minetest.
The Best Bad Game I've Played In a Rather Long While
XaEnvironment is not a good game. It's janky, doesn't do a good job explaining its mechanics, doesn't look good, doesn't sound good... and yet, I've had a blast playing it. It's the kind of bad that comes off as earnest and endearing, rather awful or lazy.
I've only played the game for about half an hour, but in that time I:
Spawned at the bottom of a deep valley, unsure how to leave
Discovered that, in fact, the game has a lot of movement tech and the cliffs around me were traversable without any digging/building!
Then, drunk on power, I accidentally flung myself off a cliff into the ocean...
...where I wound up trapped in some rapids and drowned
I started a new world and spawned into a village full of NPCs with fake random garbled player name tags...
...who began hollering various things into chat...
...including one guy asking if the dev could please remove the NPCs already
I then wandered off back into the wilderness, got into a terrifying and dramatic fistfight with a bird, then died of thirst
Even dying horribly is a genuinely interesting experience in this game!
I feel like I should still point out some of the bad parts of this game in the interest of giving the dev actionable feedback. The biggest problem that I see right now is that most interfaces are really cluttered and poorly designed, including some particularly annoying behaviors (eg. pressing enter in the search field closes the craftguide instead of searching). Additionally, while it's neat to see animals and npcs all over the place the volume of sound effects feel really out of wack. It's hard to describe, but it feels like everything is next to you even if it's rather far away. Finally, more feedback and polish on the parkour would be really helpful. You have a neat system, but it can still feel pretty unclear and disorienting at times.
Even in its current state, the game has enough novel stuff to be worth a look. It's fun.
Good teleportation system
I like this mod very much for the ability of creating network of teleporters and for the small graphics parts like doors, which adds much to the game.
Very usefull especialy for building and graphics
Nothing to say except "INCREDIBLE" :) I like especialy stairs graphical tweak.

good
its good, the studs look like old roblox aswell.
hmm
cool mod . good for industry
Good but buggy
Its got scuba gear and wrecks to explore. Its even got oceanlife.
Challenging but original
its fun but also frustrating. The tiku and alcohol seems like an odd thing to add to an otherwise good game.
It’s very fun
its fun and its way easier to craft stuff. Plus its got animals and villagers to trade with.
Good skin mod
GUI doesn't look very modern, but is 100% functional.
Default skins are also very good.
Favorite Ores Mod
always had this mod activated in every survival server i've played, nice & simple, good job o/
Vroom Vroom!
These motorbikes are awesome! One of the best vehicles I have used in-game. Now if only I could get Minetest to stop stuttering while attached to entities.
Love to Run
Allows running & supports stamina & hudbars. The amound of stamina drained by running can be changed in configuration.
Much Needed Visuals
These HUD visuals are definitely needed.
Ability of creating the base of very complex mechanisms
Enormous amount af detectors, wires, etc
Near infinite possibilities, especialy then also using
digilines
anddigistuff
There is a good documentation online, which makes easy to use the luacontroler.
I use it every time I play minetest game :)
My prefered protection mod
I like the idea of using fixed 'chunks' in a protection system.
The minimap is also very useful.
Good Exercise
More people need to get out of their cars & onto a bike. Exercise strengthens the body & mind.
Very Diverse
Adds some much needed aesthetics & plenty of items & nodes. Gives worlds a more diverse feel.
Probably Provides the Most Diverse Number of Player Skins
Because this mod downloads skins directly from Addis Open MT-Skin Database, it (from what I can tell) provides more skins than any other skin mod & makes adding new skins easy.
So Many Colors
I love the
airbrush
in more recent releases & I wish more mods supported coloring with unifieddyes. It is actually quite easy to add support.Beautiful
Amazingly beautiful & creative. I've only tested it a bit on some local games, but it seems very well done. The dragons are enormous.
Simple & Fun
Adds some simple, great aesthetic.
cool
vaguely reminds me of lego
Original art style, but very good
textures are unified and looks very good
A very good texture pack
Near all mtg textures done and a huge amount of supported mods.
The best HD texturepack
The player texture looks kinda... strange, but the other textures are very good and doesn't have any noise.
Nice Glass
a nice mod which adds various colored glass blocks... it doesnt add TOO many colors only the ones you will need, can also check cblocks for similar stuff...
un?lucky blocks
very nice mod adds lucky blocks, you can easily add unique ones :D
very interesting game!
can you add glass parts plz?
Great biome, and great blocks!
A cool looking biome, and also great building blocks! Awesome stuff.
cool
nice mod,very useful :-)

Really Nice
Very nice mod, can easily make new customes/steal minecraft textures and add them to it, the way to get customes is up to the server owner i think :þ
nice mod, good job o/

A must have then travelling in mtg
Going down high mountains without taking damage was never as easy xD
I wonder if a non entity based implementation would be possible?
Challenging fights...
pretty high quality mod
you will need a bunch af high quality stuff to beat these super OP dragons xD, but it adds a good chalenge to the game
(the best way to kill them is
rangedweapons
mod as far as I can see)Very good
I have changed textures to the official Minecraft ones!
Do you know how to reduce the space between slots?
Very useful for every automated system
Seriously, this mod is near perfect :)
high quality and smooth
As i can see, my issue has been solved so its time to mention the good sides,
This mod includes high quality mobs, with cool textures and animations, after the last update it also became smooth.
good job o/
Laggy..
laggy mod, could not play a server with it, really, i've left some servers forever when they added this.. :l
would be nice to have a unlaggy mod like this with a better performance.. however i'm good with default character animation..
Note: the lag i've mentioned is visual (the head stops moving sometimes.. etc) not server lag, this mod does not affect the max_lag of a server
