This is a very nice mod, it really fits minetest's biome philosophy.
I had one problem tho, all the ethereal biomes are empty without decorations and i couldn't find any setting about disabling reregistering. Anyone can help me?
This has long been my favorite Minetest Game texture pack. It enhances the overall look of the game while remaining faithful to the original textures. Although it is incomplete at the time of this review, it currently improves most of the ground/stone/biome textures which tend to stand out the most, and that alone is worth a lot.
I recommend this texture pack to anyone who wants a simple yet pronounced improvement upon the default Minetest Game aesthetic.
I love everything you suggest!
I hope you continue to develop it and I'm sure many will implement it as a base in their games.
I would like to take the opportunity to ask a question about how the mods that add stones work (also layers or biomes ones).
Are they applicable to worlds that I have already been using?
That is, in minetest the blocks are not already generated when creating the world?
Or are they generated every time I open the game?
Mods like these modify existing blocks?
What happens if I remove the mod later?
Sorry for so many questions, but I see that you have put a very detailed description that leads me to think that you know what I am talking about.
From already thank you very much.
Regards!
minetest has a lot of plain stone, this is the best mod to add variation to the underground, its always a good time exploring and trying to find new stones for the colection. and i select some stones i like for my survival worlds
The game is fun, I really like the player model and I'm sure this has potential.
You should keep working on it, this game shows the possibalities of the minetest engine.
It's a fun game that doesn't really feel like a minetest game, I like that!
Also when I'm playing this on mobile it doesn't feel like I'm playing a PC game on my phone, which is good.
I had actually hoped people could and would adapt my textures eventually. And, well, someone did! Also, interesting use of the glass batch texture. It is a simple mod, very basic, but it works. My only request is maybe bring back the cracked brick?
Edit 2023-11-30:Mineclonia is a fork of MineClone2 with more Minecraft-like features that uses much less RAM. Mineclonia runs on devices on which MineClone2 crashes, only lacking music and the hamburger (which is not in Minecraft).
MineClone2 replicates Minecraft gameplay. It mostly works. Yet, I can not recommend the game, because of questionable dev practices.
Reasons:
Items turn into other items in new versions: Lapis (a rare gem) items turned into blue dye (made from flowers). In a refactoring item names got shuffled, and the devs did not understand item aliases; the fix was to add a recipe to make lapis from blue dye and disable crafting blue dye from flowers.
Texture names change: Texture packs and mods that depends on MineClone2 texture names break in new versions. Textures had stable file names originally, but the dev team put all files in one folder instead of mod's texture folders, with filenames prefixed with mod names. Whenever this is done, it breaks every usage of a texture file name in texture packs and other mods, which then need to be updated.
Mods are ill-defined and often tightly coupled: New functionality is often added to an existing mod, even if it only makes sense from an aesthetic and not from an architecture point of view. When functionality is rewritten in an incompatible way, in MineClone2 the new implementation often keeps the mod name. This makes it impossible to depend on the presence of certain features. You can not depend on the presence of crying obsidian, as it was added to mcl_core instead of being made its own mod – while the respawn anchor implementation was added to mcl_beds.
I believe the reason for all of these decisions is the same: Contributions are generally valued – even if they are so awful that doing nothing would yield a better experience for players and creators of texture-packs and third-party mods.
(A modified comment) The game has many features, those may be minimal features in term of the game. It still lacks the specifications.
I've looked at the source code. There're some conflicted mods, for example, binoculars and zooming. And the the source's hard to change, because of the organization of files.
A lot of effort went in, and there are inclusions that similar mods would never have as well. But, this has no reason to exist unless you desperately want a new ore. It does what it says well though, so I can't fault it there. If you want a new tier of tools, armor, and weapons, this does that well.
the only possible gripe I could give is that all raw ores use the same texture in this mod rather than having unique textures like Minecraft which it is obviously copied off of. But the colors match nicely, and it gives you a way to store stuff until you have enough spare coal or wood or charcoal to smelt. In a pinch, they could also be decorative depending on your tastes.
Apparently I was not the only one who disliked holes being added to existing nodes. In my opinion, you should either add new nodes, or just make do with what already exists, not modify existing content. Sure, sometimes the default content may be ugly, but make a texture pack or separate mod. Anyway, really good mod here. It fixes this small gripe I have.
MineClone 2 is the best game on Minetest engine. It has nearly all content on original game. Has more slabs and stairs and thats perfect.
But I don't like something. Animals walks on water, the reach distance is very long. There is no running state.
These are not a valid reason to make me hare the game. This is still the best clone of minecraft.
I can play it on a 12 years old laptop even if I do not install the gpu drivers and run on integrated gpu.
Thats perfect.
I am rather new to Minetest, and this is the game that I enjoy most for now. I found many interesting things at the early game:
Smoke: Torches, lava and furnaces emit smoke that generally moves up if it can, and you cannot breathe inside the smoke. This forces you to think about ventilation when building, and conditions your designs (in a good way). I wish there were more features like this that force you to build for some purpose.
Thirst, hunger and "diet": Mobs can kill you, yes, but also hunger and thirst. You need to have reliable sources for food and water. You need one canteen (or more) to carry water. Also, you cannot eat the same type of food regularly because it stops filling you up. That adds variety, it forces you to cultivate different things and/or tame different animals.
Temporary torches: Torches are temporary. Once you put a torch on a wall or floor or wherever, it only lasts for some minutes (they burn out). At the same time, when you carry a torch it emits light. Even if this might seem difficult, it is fun. Light becomes another resource (same as food or water). You need to find other more stable sources of light (oil lamps or candles) but they are dimmer and at the beginning it is not trivial to build them. This forces you to explore and obtain some resources just to have a stable source of light at your first base.
Some say that these increase the difficulty curve, but I'd say that these add some interest and variety. Standard Minetest games just start as "dig as down as possible as fast as you can". For the late game, there is space (where you cannot breath), cloudlands, nether...
Of course it suffers from the "mod soup": Some things are inconsistent and unbalanced. However, the community is really friendly and the developers (which is only one developer) is attentive and tries to iron things out.
And again, for a Minetest beginner that does not have a favourite combination of mods, this game is very good.
I think the crafting recipy is a bit simple and cheap compared to what this machine is able to do especially with the potential of having more mods installed which have tools that benefit greatly from this repair machine.
However this being said after customizing it a bit i greatly enjoy this mod (crafting wise, the other bits are very alien to me to this day).
I love your mod. The wings are beautiful and the jump is great. No fall damage is OK.
edit:
the "Double Jump" mod by Panquesito7 works amazingly with "aerial"!
Just set the max jumps number to 10000000 and high to 8.5 and it's a miracle!
this is one of my favorite mods for minetest by far, i cant wait to see what this will look like with in future updates :D
this mod in awesome for anyone looking for an apocalypse mod for minetest. highly recommended!
there is this glitch where the bioems generate but they appear just flat biomes without flora. what mod could be causing this let me know in the replies
Very good mod but causes troubles with ethereal
This is a very nice mod, it really fits minetest's biome philosophy. I had one problem tho, all the ethereal biomes are empty without decorations and i couldn't find any setting about disabling reregistering. Anyone can help me?
Good, but do not see any purpose in it
I just read a different review, and only just then discovered that it was releteive to the block not asbolute.
An excellent Minetest Game texture pack

Nice game, but Mineclonia is better!

Funny.
I am using this mod in every new world now, it's fun.
Nice
Good idea and it's useful too. Also the crafting recipe isn't unbalanced.
Good Job!
It looks nice, I am using it for survival.
Good idea!
It's very good, but when I joined, I spawned in lava. If it's possible please fix it.
Thank you for the mod.
I will add this to my game :)
Awesome
Very cool! It just looks nice. There's nothing bad about this.
A good game for survival, but lacks story

THe Idea and multiple mod support is awesome! Also the textures are looking good.
Awesome idea!

Good idea
It probably would be fun playing pvp with a friend, there are many possibilities.
Very Good!
I like playing this on Minigames A.E.S and it's fun to make my own maps. Also the textures are VERY good.
Both better and worse
